In 2020 80% of Chilians voted YES on a referendum to change their constitution. The overwhelmingly left parliament proposed a very ‘progressive’ new constitution to replace the last one written at the time of Pinochet (the infamous right wing dictator).
It includes: * Mandatory representation for women in government (to the tune of at least 50%) * Indigenous votes count as 2 votes. * Legislating gender/sex distinction. * Legalized abortion * abolishment of the senate * Creating autonomous enclaves for the indigenous * Fighting climate change is constitutional duty
What is your opinion of such constitutional requirements for the government?
Would you support something similar? Any parts that you like or dislike?
