Where should the line be drawn between religion and government?

The Roe decision by the Supreme Court, along with the Maine tuition and the Bremerton football coach decisions has shown that this conservative court has take a very clear position on how important freedom of religion is versus the establishment clause. On the heels of these decisions the America First Legal (AFL) issued a statement hopeful that the Supreme Court will eventually allow states to “decide whether and to what extent they will establish religion within their borders.”

Considering the enumeration clause, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”, it’s not a far stretch to think that this originalist court may rule on that it clearly only states “Congress” and does not mention “state”.

What do you think of the AFL’s position on this? Do you think we could see a state enact a law that clearly violates the enumeration clause and isn’t struck down? Such as a state declaring a state religion or requiring a specific religions prayer? Would you be fine with that?
